Default Users and Roles

Five has predefined roles that can be assigned to users of your Five account. Each role has a different group of permissions. You need to use one of Five's default roles to add to a user, you cannot create your own roles for your Five account.
When you add a user, there are three different roles you can assign:
- Administrator
- Control
- Developer
Five's Default Roles
Administrator
With any of Five's cloud plans, you are not limited to the number of users you can add with the role of Administrator. A user assigned the Administrator role has limited permissions granted. A user with the Administrator role can make changes to your Five account that can affect your other Five users as they have the following permissions:

An Administrator user can deploy to the development, testing, and production environments.
Control
You will require a Team or Enterprise plan to add a user with a Control role. With a Team plan, you are given a log in for a user with a Control role and can add one other user that can be assigned with the Control or Developer role. A Basic plan does not allow you to add a user with a Control role. A user assigned the Control role has full access in Five.

A Control user can deploy to the development, testing, and production environments.
Developer
You will require a Team or Enterprise plan to add a user with the Developer role. With a Team plan, you can add one other user with the Developer role, except if you have added a user with a Control role. A Basic plan does not allow you to add a user with the Developer role. A Developer role has access to develop an application, however, is restricted to certain areas that only users with the Administrator or Control role can access.

A Developer user can deploy to the development environment.
Public
The public user is an inbuilt system user that Five uses to allow you to control access to public facing URLs. You can configure the access public URLs required by setting the appropriate permissions against this role.
Standalone
A Standalone user is assigned the Standalone role. The Standalone user is a special user for Five's desktop version.
A Standalone user can run applications locally.
